Drumline – Tenor Drummer
As a tenor drummer in the marching band, I developed discipline, coordination, and endurance through regular rehearsals and performances. Learning to maintain musical precision while moving in formation taught me to stay focused, work closely with others, and remain committed in a demanding, fast-paced ensemble.

As a keyboardist in several student-led rock and R&B bands, I had the opportunity to explore musical styles beyond my classical training. Performing with different groups strengthened my creativity and adaptability, while teaching me how to respond to the ideas, styles, and energy of other musicians.

Concert Band – Piano Accompanist
As a piano accompanist, I learned that performing is not always about taking the lead. My role was to listen carefully, adjust to the ensemble, and support the other performers without overpowering them. This experience developed my musical sensitivity, flexibility, and understanding of how individual contributions come together to create a balanced performance.

Wind Band – Percussionist
As a percussionist in the wind band, I helped provide the rhythmic foundation of the ensemble while developing a stronger sense of timing, consistency, and precision. Performing within a large group also taught me to stay aware of the musicians around me and take responsibility for how my part contributed to the overall sound.

Chamber Music – Piano Duo
Performing works by Brahms as part of a piano duo introduced me to the close communication and trust that chamber music requires. Without a conductor, every musical decision depended on careful listening, responsiveness, and mutual understanding. This experience taught me how to balance my own interpretation with that of another musician to create a unified performance.

Carillon Performer (Bell Tower Duty)
As the only student carillon performer at my school, I was entrusted with a distinctive musical responsibility. Playing the bells required consistency, precision, and dedication, but it also allowed me to contribute to a longstanding campus tradition and become part of the everyday rhythm of school life.

Ballet
Ballet has played an important role in my artistic development, shaping both my physical discipline and ability to express emotion through movement. Through training and performance, I learned the importance of precision, balance, control, and attention to detail.
Ballet also showed me that storytelling does not always require words. Every gesture, posture, and movement can communicate emotion. The patience, resilience, and commitment to refinement that ballet demands have continued to influence the way I approach challenges beyond the stage.
